And more

I made a few small edits at CodeWOW and here at WOW HQ.
There's tons more to do, I feel like I have a million things to add, and only so much time to edit. Because that's how things are!
Today's reading: Science, Wisdom, and the Future. Interesting book, a progressive take, lots of ideas although with a particular perspective. Many different contributors, so surely something for anyone!

One Rose Too Many

Submitted by eagle on Wed, 10/29/2014 - 22:14

Because anyone can edit the TaleWOW stories, and I want to have a copy as I first wrote it, here is my original draft of One Rose Too Many (which I wrote on a smartphone with my finger):

A scent of dusk. Or dust.

Karmel woke up, lying in bed next to his lover. One of them, anyway.

"Be a dear, get me my mug, love," he said.

Next to Karmel, a womanly body heaved. With a stretch and a yawn, she lazily got out of bed.

"Coffee?" she asked.

"Anything," he said.

The woman climbed out of bed and trod into the kitchen. Little burbles came out of the kitchen, and the smell of roast coffee.

"Do you really love me?" she asked.

"Why yes, of course I do," Karmel answered without any doubt.

"Then why do you always make eyes at other women?" she asked confusedly.

"I already told you," he said. "I love them a lot and one's my wife."

The woman moaned. She put down the coffee mug on Karmel's bedside, and lay down next to him again.

"Look, Karmel. I'm not asking for a lot. I just want to know that I'm special for you."

"Oh, but you are, Rose," he answered. "Do you see anyone else lying in my bed naked?"

He had a point. Yet, something remained amiss.

Looking around the room, Rose felt for a clue. Catching sight of a crossword puzzle in the mirror, she found out how the pieces fit.

"Look, mister. I know you're all sweetness and light with me. But I'm well-read. I know what you're up to. And there's only room for one rose in this bouquet."

Karmel stammered.

A computer printout underneath the crossword puzzle showed order records for a floral arrangement company. Underneath Rose's name was another woman, apparently also called Rose. She had received the same three items, on the same date.

"I can smell a cheat," she said indignantly, "and I want you to cut off your other Rose."

"Well," said Karmel. "If that's the way you feel, then I'll just have to let Rose know that I love her but can't see her any more."

Then, turning around, he added: "Rose, listen dear, I'm terrible with names, and you'll have to remind me which Rose I'm supposed to break things off with. I think it's one of my florists, but I'm not quite sure which. I do love them all."

Oh dear.

Rose pinched her nose, got out of bed again, and went to the kitchen. There, she picked up the tablet, searched through Karmel's address book, and selected all the Roses except for herself. With a quick email followed by contact deletion, she cleared the air.

"And now, Sir, we can have a proper affair."

New CodeWOW contents!

OK, just added a bunch of new material to CodeWOW! Now there is some more infrastructural information, as well as some basic code data.
I'm starting with small, simple additions. This phase demonstrates the idea, as well as serving as an actually usable codeset.
More coming soon, and of course feel free to add your own!!!

OK!

Building up. Now adding additional content to Worlds O Wisdom.
It's an adventure just to build this adventure management system!
Here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, amid some travels around the state.
So much more to write, it will take some time!
Also, many administrative tasks to do.
I look forward to continuing to grow and improve with Worlds O Wisdom!

Hello Worlds!

This is the beginning of Worlds O Wisdom!
Today, Day One, marks the start of an era. After a lengthy gestation period, this new project presents a modern informational philosophy. Will it fizzle or explode? We'll find out.
While I'm sure there were a lot of background inspirations and thoughts and experiences that went into WOW, I started consciously considering it over the last year or so. Traveling around different places by bicycle, I realized even more than ever the importance of answering the question "What to do next?" -- for me and for other people.
I don't know whether it's even possible to give really good answers to these questions, given the great uncertainties in life. Yet, it seems from evidence and reason that we can improve our lives, through thoughtful efforts. Overall, this seems like a worthwhile avenue of inquiry.
What should one do? Even if we can't provide a complete solution, we can at least start coming up with modern, useful solutions with our most practical options.
Let's go!!!
