What is LifeWOW?

Life Worlds O Wisdom (LifeWOW) is a wonderfully exciting new project, in which we create the new kind of garden! As part of Worlds O Wisdom, LifeWOW enables us to explore life itself collaboratively. We create and share new contexts and agents who flow in different media.

"Congratulations, very well done." - Dr. Adrian Bejan, recipient of 18 honorary doctorates in 11 countries, author of 30 books and over 600 scientific articles, professor of engineering at Duke University.

A scientific way to describe LifeWOW is as "hylozoological gardens", which means playing with different parts of existence. We create fanciful organizations of matter, including dynamic art (LifePALETTE), digital interactive machines (LifeFLOW), 3D animations (LifeSTORY), and mechanical containers (LifeTUBS). We also collect and organize our cultures (LifeBANK). Have a fun day at the hylozoo!

With LifeWOW, we explore how living energy evolves everywhere in our universe.

LifeFLOW v1.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Happy to announce the big version 1.0 of LifeFLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

LifeFLOW digitarium lets you play with electronic creatures, as they move about their environment and evolve. A digital vivarium is essentially a virtual terrarium or aquarium. You can play with LifeFLOW on any web browser on a computer, tablet, smartphone, or any other device.

We have been developing LifeFLOW for over a year now, and publish the source code freely and openly under the MIT license. We welcome your contributions.

life@worldsowisdom.com

With special thanks to Avril Olachea and Dr. Adrian Bejan for art and inspiration, and gratitude to everyone who has contributed directly or indirectly.

Currently LifeFLOW works best in Firefox. It does work in other browsers, although we'll want to do further testing to improve compatibility. If you encounter any questions or comments, please get in touch! :)

You can also find a trippy new creature here at LifeBANK! :)

Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

bact4

Check out the cool new bacterial-style trippy creature!!! :)

Thanks to Avril for the artwork/visuals!!! :)

This creature has some of the anatomy and physiology of biological bacteria, however it derives its movements more directly from a LifePath.

Its behavior can be described as somewhat frenetic, although still exploratory. Offspring include bact1 and bact5 as well as other bact4.

Design philosophy at LifeFLOW wiki! :)

In addition to a few more software improvements in LifeFLOW, we now have a new design philosophy! :)

Keep it simple silly (KISS)! :)

At LifeFLOW, we try to make digitarium software that is fun, fast, flexible, freeing, and lots of other words that don't all begin with the letter "F"! :)

We use common, standard, open tools, like JavaScript/PHP/SVG. We use a minimum of complex external libraries. Our basic tools already contain a ton of utility, so unless we have a strong motivation for an additional tool, we prefer to keep things simple...

LifeFLOW development! :)

LifeFLOW on the way to 1.0! :)

Wow! :)
Looking back on LifeFLOW development so far, while looking forward to the upcoming version 1.0 release, it's amazing how far we've come already! :)
When I first started jotting down some notes, I had several inspirations in mind. A few include an idea from when I was younger and wanted to make a more biologically inspired game world to illustrate Darwin's ideas, as well as Conway's Game of Life, which is more mathematical. I suppose this falls somewhere in between, as a physics game instead of biology or math.
Today we have the following:

That already reflects a good chunk of the initial vision. Of course, there are still tons of features and creatures to improve to make it closer to that ideal, and the ideal itself evolves as we make progress. Anyways, it's quite heady to create and watch the birth and development of this fun life game!!! :)
Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

LifeFLOW v0.9.2: creature improvements! :)

LifeFLOW v0.9.1: user interface improvements! :)

Here is a new minor release to LifeFLOW digitarium! :)

A digitarium is way lighter and more efficient than an aquarium. A digitarium is way bigger and cooler than a regular computer game.
The "equarium" is already more fun and interesting to play with than an aquarium! :) The age of aquaria is OVER! :)
As always, you can play with LifeFLOW yourself here! :)
And here are the latest LifeFLOW demo videos:

LifeFLOW v0.9!!!!!!!!!!! :)

New release, version 0.9!!! :)

This version introduces several new creatures, including a couple of variants of LifePath. The latter have different looks than previous creatures, and in one case even eat and mate! :) (Or, get eaten and reproduced...) We also now have some improvements to the game functionality..

Have a play for yourself! :)

Thank you for playing, and please get involved!!! :)

LifePath2!!! :)

Check out the coolest LifeFLOW creature yet!!! :)

Introducing LifePath2! :)

Description

The LifePath2 is a path (or series of connected geometric points). Unlike its predecessor species, the more straightlaced LifePath, the newer LifePath2 contains curves as well. The species tends towards largeness, relative to its environment, with sizes ranging from around 50 to 400 in each direction (relative to a 450 square scale).
