After riding up to Fort Worth/Dallas, rode in a self-driving Tesla. The electric vehicle drives itself, which is amazing to experience. Even more amazing when the driver falls asleep at the wheel.

We drove along the interstate highways, at 75 mph. The car steers itself, keeping within its lane, and maintaining its distance with other cars. A quick touch of the turn signal, and the car shifts to another lane on its own, flowing smoothly with traffic. Occasionally a few faster cars would want to pass us, which works out fine as long as the driver is awake. Otherwise they get a funny look on their face when they finally do find a way to pass.
The interior of the car is nicely designed, although as the driver pointed out it could use some improvements to things like the sound system. Quite a spacious sedan, it has a rated range of around 250 miles although a more practical range of around 200 miles. With a few fast-charging stations along the way, there's an obvious route that connects with refills between that range.
When we got to Mobile, Alabama, and its fast-chargers, the car encountered a problem, probably electrical, and we had to stop. Tesla provided the driver with a rental car to return to Texas, while they tow and repair the electric car. I'm carrying on by bike towards Florida, now approaching Pensacola. That's as far as I got last time along the Gulf of Mexico eastward, so now I get a chance to finish the arc.
