Now riding down to Key West, and the rest of the Florida Keys!!! :)
Just got out of the city of Miami, where I had a wonderful time meeting lots of people and seeing different parts of the city, from artsy streets full of murals to shopping centers and urban farms and suburban homes and lots of beaches and palm trees everywhere! :)
"The best thing about Miami is how close it is to the US."
Met lots of Cubans, Colombians, Peruvians, and people from all over.
Ate and danced and conversed and read and wrote and dreamed and planted and grew! :)

Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Miami Impressions

Submitted by eagle on Tue, 02/16/2016 - 15:01

I love Miami! :)
So far I've only seen little bits and pieces. Beaches, city streets, flashy life night and day, lots of restaurants and shops, and so many beautiful people. Tropical paradise! :)
Coconut palms are great -- although dangerous! Did you know that people regularly die from falling coconuts?
Everywhere I go I see fancy cars, including cars by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and tons of other luxury brands. The official make of the city seems to be Lexus, with BMW close behind, and lots of Chevrolet Corvettes, Mercedes, Jaguars, and more exotic cars too.
Apparently it's common in Miami to run and ride bikes in a thunderstorm! :)
The city can feel a bit superficial at times, with people so heavily invested in looks, although a lot does happen here and there's plentiful community activity as well.
And I've already heard some great music! :)
It's a really amazing city, already one of my favorites.

Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Year Three: Wheeeeeeeeeee! :)

Submitted by eagle on Mon, 02/15/2016 - 00:37

It's now been three years that I've lived while traveling, during which time a lot has happened! :)
Below is a summary of the last year. You can find here Year Two, and Year 2.5.

RIDING

"I get tired driving a CAR that far."
"I get tired riding my bike down the block!"

These and other statements represent some of the comments I hear when describing riding a bicycle cross-country. The adventure can definitely be tough -- and it takes some legs! -- yet it pays off with great stories, exercise, fresh air, and plentiful opportunities to meet people and do new activities.
Over the last year, I've gone from the southern part of the central US, eastward along the Gulf of Mexico into Florida, up north to Chicago, back down to the other side of Florida, back west to the other parts of Texas, then back to southern Florida. Now in Miami, I've gone across the USA from bottom to top and back, and from center to east to center and back. Here's a map! :)

In the course of these travels, I've mostly gone by bicycle. Part of this way was in a couple of rental cars. Another part was in a self-driving electric car, a story that you can find in full here.
While touring America, I got to know so many incredible people! :) Also, the country's amazing landscapes made for gorgeous backdrops, from the gently rolling hills of Kentucky to the urban diversity of Chicago to the palm-lined coasts of Florida.
The whole ride has been wonderful. If I've gleaned one important piece of bicycle advice from this, it's: don't road tour on mountain bike tires! :)

WRITING

While riding, I have continue to write. Some of the developments include a draft of Astrotripping: A Cosmic Joyride. To raise funds and spread interest, you can now invest in a percentage of book earnings. Learn the details and buy a stake here!

With Avril Olachea, we created the children's book El burrito que quería volar. The book came out in both Spanish and English digital editions, and a beautiful print edition in Spanish. Buy a copy here!

I also wrote the interactive science fiction adventure Phase Q. You can read this for free, choosing which course to take, and you can even edit the story yourself. Play here!
For magazines, I wrote a number of articles including a BBC piece on the Vatican astrophysics program.

Beyond those, I've written a slew of short stories and other material. You can find these, including my regularly updated blog, by browsing around Worlds O Wisdom.

Overall, it's an amazing trip, the ride of a lifetime.

Next year, I intend to ride the eastern USA. While traveling, I will also continue to create. For any suggestions, questions, or miscellaneous positive vibrations, please contact me at eagle@eaglegamma.com!

Thank you so much for making possible another year of discovery and development and fun!

With lots of love,

Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
