Waffle House!
Waffle House is a chain of diners in the South. Went to one this morning, had an awesome breakfast. The beautiful waitress started by asking: "Whatcha drankin'?" Other patrons got the tab. Beautiful decor, delicious food, friendly people. America!
By the way, I love the southern accents I hear around here. There are actually many very different accents throughout the South. To my ears they sound like beautiful melodious music. I especially like the way southern women talk.
Recently, while riding out of Louisiana, a few more spokes on my rear wheel snapped. They left the wheel even more out of true, to the point that it wouldn't rotate. At certain points along the wheel, where it got especially out of shape, the wheel would hit the frame, and stop rolling. So I stopped, and tried to fix it. At first, I tried readjusting where the wheel sat within the frame. Nothing worked. Then, I took the wheel off, and tried to bend the metal rim back into shape. Using just my body, I pushed the wheel away from me with my feet, while pulling on the most bent parts with my hand and as much of my weight as I could put into it. After a few minutes of efforts, the wheel seemed to spin a bit better. I thought I would just bend it a bit more, to make it roll more smoothly, when a pickup truck pulled up.
The driver got out, and offered me a ride into town. He was a reverend. We threw the bike and gear into the bed of the truck, where I climbed in. We drove to the nearest highway junction, while the reverend's wife looked up bike shops. Nothing nearby. So I got out, thanked them for the ride, and continued to bend the wheel by hand. Finally, I got it to roll clearly through the frame. Now in fact it rolls better than before! Although without spokes, who knows how long it'll be until the next incident...
Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
