Should you have a life mission?
Yes! According to proponents of order[edit]
Having a vision, or a unified purpose, gives direction to life. Does it come from within, or from elesewhere? You could also have more than one life mission, which for example could be divided by category. Say, a professional life mission and a personal life mission.
Why? In order to guide and direct your life[edit]
Life is relatively complex, and it helps to have a simple, manageable focus. This orients your efforts. You create the direction in your life. There will still be many twists and turns, some imposed by the environment or other agents. Yet, having a roadmap will ease these challenges, and provide a compass for the easy and hard times.
Ultimately, the motivation is to find and create what it is that you want to do with your life.
