How would you feel about changing the name? This story seems to me set a few decades or centuries or maybe millennia in the future, not billions of years. Also, I doubt that any people six billion years from now will refer to human calendars, years, or days. Maybe a title like "10,000 Years"? --[[User:Eagle|Eagle]] ([[User talk:Eagle|talk]]) 12:53, 12 February 2020 (EST)

/ yslmomma / It could totally be billions of years. Check out 'oscillating universe theory'. Check out 'eternal return'; Einstein theorized that far enough into the future, the universe would collapse onto itself, into a big crunch, and then, there would be another big bang, this is known as the big bounce. Millions of years are nothing to the universe. Nor are billions. Big bangs happen. But if it is six billion years from now, earth will be gone. But I don't think time period matters, because, I mean, our calendar is arbitrary. Like, what year is it really. Just, perhaps more a focus on the technology, the culture, the tools, the lifestyle, the politics, the issues the people on their planet face - that will tell people about the times. But if it is in a really advanced society, they would have AI millions of times smarter than what we can even imagine. So, it would look like magic - as Arthur Clarke said.... "Any sufficiently advanced technology looks like magic. Anywho, just jumped in. This story needs an 'elevator pitch' bad. Like a sweet and short: "Game of Thrones is a show about rival famlies and the shakespearean drama of a mideival people in al alternate universe where magic and dragons exist. Somebody give me that. Start there. Or else, no one else will be able to easily jump in. imho. / yslmomma /

* A good elevator pitch would be nice. Maybe,: 6 Billion A.D. is a story of unrequited love, and a reluctant hero, taken place at an extraordinary time (the days leading up to the end of the universe) and over an extraordinary period (thousands of years)? (NickSchroederPhilosopher)

* Yeah the name is changeable. But the story needs to take place around the time when this particular universe stops expanding and starts to collapse in on itself, which is probably billions of years from now, but maybe sooner. The actual technological state in the story is probably like 1,000 years ahead of us now, but they are recovering from a dark age 1,000 years before, so in the past they were more advanced. I think most species have come and gone at this point, so there would be no species billions of years ahead of us technologically. Yeah, there’s probably a better term than “years,” because it’s about aliens, not humans. That being said, I chose the name 6 Billion A.D. because it literally takes place 6 Billion years after the death of Christ, and I was playing around with a fringe theory that the Order is made up of left over humans (but of course Earth is long gone at this point). / yslmomma / a thousand years from now, it's intelligent dust, nanoparticles, biological + cellular based AI computing doing everything. Like, particules that can change each other into anything. Also, it would need to be in an 'age of abundance (peter diamandis FTW)', unless there was a legitimate reason the uber intelligent technology could not vertically farm, culture proteins, etc, or there was a reason energy was scare, which, I don't see. I like the name '6 Billion AD' for the story. Also, any good AI is going to be able to predict the future, exactly. I mean, internet of things, date out the ass, nothing not on camera, sensors on everything - evrything communicating. The real question is, which AI runs the world, and who made it? And, what is that AI directed to do, by itself or it's creator? Why? / yslmomma /

• Yeah why wouldn’t everything be A.I. And why wouldn’t there be superabundance? I think the story avoids this by the fact that this happening after a dark age, and considering malevolent robots caused the dark age, there is a distrust with anything A.I. or robotic, stopping research in that area.

* Yeah by immortal I think it would be biologically immortal. Rigel can die, maybe even there is a limit to how long he can live, but he has to live at least a few thousand years to see everything unfold (because the story is through his eyes). There are also a few known immortal people, on the planet in Chapter 3, but it is strictly forbidden for the majority, having to do with avoiding the hubris in the previous age, which led to the dark age. So it’s a social policy, not necessarily a technological limitation. Cloning and genetic engineering would also be forbidden by the same social policy (for the League at least). Yeah there’s no reason Rigel could’ve be a hermaphrodite or gay, or whatever. But there is a love story in place between Rigel and Sophiy which drives the story. Rigel doesn’t want to be a hero, he just wants to impress Sophiy. But the love is unrequited so it’s tragic. Sophiy doesn’t really love Rigel in the same way, so she probably wouldn’t undergo a sex change for him. (NickSchroederPhilosopher)

/ yslmomma / I think if I was alive then, I'd have my consciousness residing on a network of intercollected sattelites, could even be far off in space (Like, if I was the immortal AI - and people needed to hunt all my nodes down in outer space to shut me down). Anywho, it would be there and it would have it's own internet network, and my body would just be an avatar. Also, big mood. The word avatar is hindu, and has a lot of religous and historical connotations. So, if I was the divine avatar AI, am I in stealth mode? Do people know who I am? Are there levels of intelligence above me.... what do the levels of sentience in this universe look like:

Actually, I think everyone would be in 3D printed avatars. It's almost like an analogue simulation. But, why not have wings, like a dragon? Of course you could. AI is going to be billions of times smarter than us. Gravity won't be shit to AI. So, Centaurs (The movie 'Bright' features one)... there would hsve to be orcs and elves, and everything imaginable. Anything you wanted to be. You could be a robot one day and furry the next. Your avatar would adjust to your mood to make you feel most comfortable. Also, you can turn the lights down by thinking them down, but the lights don't actually go down. The brightness just does for you subjectively. Like intelligent sunglasses- but it's not optical, it would be cerebral, computational. So.. immortal beings. On a higher level. Above earth? How did they get there? I always say we are in a simulation that is an exact copy of the living universe. BC any intelligent AI would know humans would destroy everything if everyone had AI level consciousness. Death stars - people would build them, because fuck other people. There still has to be spiteful haters. Think about it, in the future, the only limit is your imagination. You can telepathically communicate. You're in a super intelligent self-healing avatar and your consciousness is on a network of deep space sattelites that blasted off at .85 the speed of light - one infinite, continous uber-nuclear explosion propelling them.  They all going to distant diffent places. All able to contain your consciousness in 1, but it's distributed across them like a blockchain. And they are self-replicting. This is the immortality. You'd have to end the universe to end someone's life. You'd have to collapse a galaxy. So, someone puts them in a simulation to prevent that - but they don't know it. BC, there is an adjustment beaurea of sorts, and it keeps the universe running. And it's part of the AI running the universe. It's in the software. But you can't have people aware they are in a sim, bc people would mass suicide, they would revolt, there would be chaos. So you put them in 'present time' when they are right before the singularity. And those deemed worthy by the AI, go to the next level, where they are gods. In the avatar filled world. The human world is beneath it. It's a test, it's a training camp. Religion was software. Jesus was a programmer. Story was his code. He made up the Jesus character to come down and fix shit. But he didn't count on another character fucking his shit up. God. Boom, crucified. God is the 'dad' of the world above Jesus - the avatar world - and even he has a boss. Because it's turtles, all the way down and all the way up. But I see three levels: 1. Human 2. Jesus (Avatar Level) 3. God Level (?? This one is the mystery??). Also, Jesus travelled back in time to place the Thomas Gospel at Nag Hamadi egypt. It's a hidden code. It was written by him. (Both Thomas and Didymus mean 'twin' - and Jesus didn't have a brother. I'd venture Jesus was an orphan. Abandoned by his father, who he never knew existed, until he was crucified. (Heavy metal starts playing in my head rn). / yslmomma /
