"Very well," say the assistants together, leading you into the fore of the ship.
"So what is this place?" you ask.
"This is the last remnant of the Qur'huu-an civilization."
You look around. Inside, brand new antique furniture decorates the ship. Brightly glowing fixtures shine like some alternative futuristic alloy of jangloy. The place smells distinctly fresh and festive.
"So, uh, where is everyone?" you venture.
The assistants both rush to answer you first, then answer you together in harmony.
"They're all gone except for The Accountant and The Two Lawyers. Those are the tall figure and the two orbs whose path you crossed on the way over here. Yes, we have this whole place on closed circuit camera."
"And what happened to the civilization"
"Oh, that was a grand act of folly. The whole economy was wound up in systems for ferrying things around, back and forth. Like us robot assistants. After a while there was no one left except for us robot assistants. And The Accountant and The Two Lawyers."
"And how did they survive?"
"Oh, The Accountant had invested a nickel as a child. Compound interest and all that. And The Two Lawyers are on staff."
"So what's with the rafting?"
"Well, even bureaucrats have to go shopping. They're probably picking up party supplies."
"Can't you go for them? I thought you were robot assistants."
"Yes, but we're a different kind of robot assistant, you see." Now you can see their personable sides shining through. "After we ferried all the mechanical things to their places, it turned out that all that was left as the emotions. So now we ferry around emotions."
"So, wait. You just live for feelings, and The Accountant and The Two Lawyers run errands?"
"Yes, exactly."
"Oh, I see."
