"Tropicalia? It's home," says the Captain.
"Whose home?" you ask.
The captain gestures around at all the rafts, sweeping in the water, and the log that you're holding onto. "Ours. Yours. Everybody's." A wave leaps out of the water and waves at you.
"Well I hardly know the place," you reply. "And I don't feel at home here."
"Not yet, anyway," says the Captain.
"So what happens here?" you ask.
"Anything. Everything. What do you want to happen?"
"Look, do you ever just give a straight answer?" You ask the Captain, surprisingly sharply.

"OK, OK," you say, backing off your tone slightly. "I just want to understand the nature of the place."
